“Against all odds” is pretty much THE perfect way to describe this shoot.
It was freezing. It was windy. There were twin one year olds who wanted to look at everything but me. (oy.) One of the babies had just had the flu and the other one was clearly getting it. (She threw up that night) My three year old was there. Mom had just gotten over the flu. My kid took a BIG tumble and cracked her little noggin. I was stressed. It was freezing. (Yes, I added that again on purpose.)
We were there for maybe 30 minutes. We found the best shelter from the wind we could find and we did our best to make the kids smile until everyone was crying and we decided to just pack it in and say “it is what it is.”
I got home and did something totally out of character…I downloaded the images immediately and with my little on my lap started to pour through them. As I did I just couldn’t stop smiling…what a pleasant surprise. There weren’t a lot but there definitely some keepers. : )

Every shoot is important to me. Ya’ll know that, but this one was especially important. This gorgeous girl is one of my best and oldest friends. My Katie. My beloved Katie and now her beloved family. Katie and I go WAY back. We both lived and worked in CA if you can believe that and we both ended up here in Billings a few years later but at different times. Our “regroup” happened totally by accident or as I like to say – by fate. We were destined to be friends for life, destined to be family. I wanted SO bad to give her great pics of her family. I so desperately wanted to give something back to her for everything she does for me. (Which is why the conditions that day brought me down a bit.) Being one of my best friends isn’t easy (I’m kinda a crappy friend since I’m so busy) and she takes such great care of me. It felt so good to finally do something for her. : )
Love you guys to pieces.
