I’ve tried to post these pictures at least a dozen times now. I sit down, I type a bunch of stuff, I delete it all, I type again, I get all choked up, I heave a big sigh and then I post something else, a set of pictures that are simply easier to articulate.
Here’s the thing about this family. They were pretty much the first family I ever photo’d with little little kids and since I consider little kids my “thing” (meaning what I’m best at) it’s hard to explain just what this amazing family means to me.
There is just something special about your “first.” The first mom to take a chance, the first dad to have faith, the first set of kids to try out all your dumb jokes, silly faces and head balancing techniques on. I had no idea what I was doing back then. I had a D50 that rattled, a $40 photo editing program and nerves so bad my hands shook. I’ll never forget it.
So much has changed in the last three years. My equipment, my skills, my confidence (though that’s still a bit shaky most of the time), they’ve all grown along with these kids. And when mom opened up the door to the suburban a few weeks ago and Olivia and Drake came running at me I SQUEALED at the sight of them. So big, so smart, and still so very very delightful. This whole family is delightful. You have no idea. All five of them are just heaven to be around. Olivia and Drake are polite and fun and patient and so willing to do anything I ask. Colton is so the baby and I love how loved he is and how he bosses the bigs around already. Dad is one of “those dads.” One of those awesome dads who shows up happy and playful and even makes suggestions for shots. And mom, well she’s bananas. She reminds me so much of myself – happy, chipper, grateful for every day, etc. She also thinks her kids are just magic. Pure magic. She’s so at peace and happy with her life, being around her just makes you feel good. It’s awesome.
Repeat clients and referrals are by far the greatest compliment I can get. Repeat clients for three years is a compliment that makes this girl teary. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for all that you’ve given me over the last three years – you’ll never know just how much it means. : )

Tell me you didn’t say “awwwww” out loud when you saw this? Yeah, I thought so. : )
Look closely at super dad. A big on each shoulder and the baby in his arms. I’m telling ya – SUPER dad. : )
this kid? Um, yeah, handsome as all get out and SMART! He can add two digit numbers in his head lightning quick. He’s FIVE!! My jaw dropped. DROPPED people.

Those blue eyes…all three of them! SWOON. : )
I hope you guys have a wonderful holiday – thank you again so much, for everything.
